All seventeen-year-old Quill wants is a break from the family business - the generations-old garden, the flowers, and the plants. He yearns for a taste of the outside world, a sense of normalcy that his mom denies him, telling him he's just not ready. The reason? Quill is a dryad, the first male dryad ever, and unlike his family, he lacks any magical abilities, possessing only a shock of green hair and matching green eyes, along with a growing frustration at the untapped world beyond his home.
One night, the outside world, in the form of his new neighbor Liam Watson, discovers Quill. Liam lives in a culture dominated by electronics, mobile devices, and social media, where magic and even the belief in it are nonexistent. Although Quill finds Liam irritating (for he is so cute it's annoying), he cannot resist the allure of the outside world and of Liam himself.
As Quill begins to explore this new realm, he finds that all is not well in his magical, urban garden. Someone or something is altering the very essence of this sacred space, and wherever Quill goes, the danger seems to grow. Caught between his family's expectations and the lure of the unknown, Quill must navigate this precarious balance, all while discovering the true nature of his own abilities and the secrets that lie within the garden he has always known.
